In addition to being a peaceful landscape by a highly collectible 19th century artist, we think the best part is that we stumbled upon this beauty neglected in a basement. What a thrill to discover a piece of buried treasure!

This is an original watercolor signed by the artist in the bottom right corner. Emil H. Meyer (1863-1925) was born in Maryland, U.S.A. He was a painter and teacher who studied in Munich, Germany in 1891 and then returned to Washington, D.C. He exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy in 1890 and the National Academy of Design in 1891. In the early 1900s, he taught at Columbia University in New York.

When I saw this painting for the first time, I immediately felt drawn to the serene landscape - the birch trees and the stream running down the center - I felt like I was there; ready to throw down a cozy blanket and enjoy nature's beauty.

I believe the frame to be original. The back of the frame has a sticker from the frame shop in Washington, D.C. You will be able to instantly hang and enjoy this terrific watercolor. If you like, you could have it re-framed and then enjoy.
