Here you have an amazing lithograph produced by Alvin C. Hollingsworth, an African-American painter and one of the first Black artists in comic books. In the early 1970s, Hollingsworth created a series of murals for the Don Quixote apartment building in the Bronx, NYC, and a series of six lithographs by the same theme and title. This lithograph is part of that series.

Hollingsworth was a prominent member of the Spiral Group which formed in 1963 in the studio of Romare Bearden. Spiral members aimed to address civil and human rights and show support for the civil rights omvement. Spiral also included Hale Woodruff, Norman Lewis, Charles Alston, Emma Amos, and Richard Mayhew.

The lithograph is handsigned in pencil in the bottom right corner and hand numbered 337 of 375 in the left corner.

Condition:
The lithograph is in nearly pristine condition with only a tiny fold in the bottom right corner (likely not visible if the litho is framed). There is also a tiny black dot on the upper, left margin (photo #5). Please see pictures for details. More pictures are available upon request.
